Where do your best ideas come from?
My best ideas often come from drawing inspiration from the past. As Ecclesiastes 1:9 says, "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." We live in a culture that thrives on nostalgia, so I focus on leveraging familiar concepts and reinventing them for modern audiences. This approach allows me to connect with people on a deeper level without wasting time trying to reinvent the wheel.
What would you consider the first
piece of graphic design?
I would consider the 40,000-year-old cave paintings found worldwide to be the first pieces of graphic design. These early artworks demonstrate the ability to communicate using signs, a capability unique to humans and not shared by even our closest relatives, the chimpanzees. These cave paintings represent the foundation of our advanced, global culture, highlighting the significance of visual communication in human history.
